  • First-article inspection and full dimensional reports
  • CMM verification on critical features, burr-free deburred edges
  • Certificate of Conformance with every shipment
Cost

Cost-competitive, even after tariffs

We quote on landed cost, not a headline unit price. China production stays cost-competitive even with current tariffs, because programming, fixturing, freight, and duties are in the number before you see it.

  • Around 20% average landed-cost savings, based on internal landed-cost comparisons
  • Cost-competitive even after current tariffs
  • Programming, fixturing, freight, and duties quoted up front
  • No offshore quote desk between you and the production line

From quote to production

A five-step process, documented at every handoff

From initial drawings to final delivery, Redstone keeps each stage clear, documented, and aligned with production requirements.

Each handoff is documented. No stage moves forward until drawings, materials, and production requirements are confirmed with the customer.

  1. 01

    Submit Your Files

Upload your CAD file in STEP, IGES, DXF, or DWG with any 2D drawings and GD and T callouts. Our engineering team reviews every submission for manufacturability and recommends the best machining technology, milling, turning, lathe, or wire EDM, before quoting.

  2. 02

    Receive a Quotation

A detailed quotation covering programming, fixturing, unit pricing by volume tier, lead time, and material and finish options. One U.S. point of contact, start to finish.

  3. 03

    First Article

We program, fixture, and cut a first article, then issue a full dimensional report so the setup is proven against your drawing before any production release. This step doubles as a rapid prototyping run, proving the part before you commit to production tooling.

  4. 04

    Production

3, 4, and 5-axis machining under documented quality control with in-process inspection. Your U.S. point of contact sends progress updates and photo documentation throughout.

  5. 05

    Inspection and Delivery

Every shipment includes a Certificate of Conformance and a CMM dimensional report. We are the importer of record and coordinate freight to your dock.

Frequently asked questions

Don’t see your question? Request a quote and our engineering team will answer it.

What are your standard lead times?

Standard production lead time is 4 to 8 weeks, with first-article timing confirmed at the quote stage. Rush programs can be reviewed case by case.

What tolerances can you hold?

Standard machined tolerance is ±0.005 inch, and we hold down to ±0.0005 inch on critical features verified by CMM. Our engineering team confirms achievable tolerances against your drawing at the feasibility review.

What materials do you machine?

We machine aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, and engineering plastics, with broad alloy flexibility in China. If your part calls for a specific alloy or temper, our engineering team confirms the best fit at the feasibility review.

Is China still cost-effective with tariffs?

Yes. Section 301 duty rates vary by the part's lawful HTS classification, and we quote on landed cost with duties included, so China production remains cost-competitive for many part categories even after current tariffs. For tariff-sensitive programs, our engineering team can compare landed cost against our Mexico and India facilities at the quote stage.

Is there a minimum order?

There is no fixed unit minimum. Overseas machining often delivers its largest percentage savings at lower and prototype volumes, so you do not need high volume to benefit. The fit is about overall program value and ongoing potential rather than a single large run; we will tell you at the quote stage whether your part is a good fit and recommend the most cost-effective approach.

How do you ensure quality?

All production runs to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 with in-process and CMM inspection. Every shipment includes a Certificate of Conformance and a dimensional inspection report, and third-party inspection is available on request.

How do customs and delivery work?

We are the importer of record and manage customs clearance from China, then coordinate freight to your dock with tracking. Duties and freight are quoted up front, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

What surface finishes are available for CNC machined parts?

We offer anodizing in Type II and Type III, powder coating, plating in zinc, nickel, and chrome, passivation for stainless steel, heat treatment, and bead blasting. Standard machined surface finish runs down to Ra 0.4 micrometers, with finer finishes and other surface treatment on request.

How should I select a CNC machining company in China?

Look at certifications such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, the inspection and CMM reporting included with each shipment, and whether one U.S. point of contact owns the program end to end. Redstone vets and manages the production facility for you and handles quality control at distance, so you are not coordinating an offshore quote desk yourself.

Can you handle both prototypes and mass production?

Yes. We run rapid prototyping and low-volume production on the same equipment that handles high volume production, so a part can move from a proven first article into sustained mass production without changing suppliers. Our engineering team confirms the right approach at the feasibility review.

Why is CNC machining more affordable in China?

CNC machining in China costs less primarily because of lower labor rates, established supply chains for raw materials like aluminum and steel, and large-scale manufacturing infrastructure. Redstone passes these savings to U.S. and Canadian customers while maintaining ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certified processes and U.S.-based oversight, typically around 20% lower landed cost than equivalent domestic production, with the same inspection reports and material certifications you would expect from a domestic manufacturer.

How much do CNC machining services cost?

Cost depends on material, part complexity, tolerances, surface finish, and order volume. Simple aluminum components with standard dimensions may start at a few dollars per unit in production quantities, while complex multi-axis titanium parts cost significantly more. Redstone quotes from your design files with programming and fixturing estimates, per-unit pricing at multiple volume tiers, and a full breakdown of finishing and shipping costs.
