Is sand casting cheaper than die casting or other casting methods?

For most large and medium-volume parts, yes. The sand casting process uses low-cost expendable molds instead of hardened steel dies, so tooling spend stays low and the method is economical across a wide range of shapes and sizes. Die casting wins only at very high volumes of small, thin-wall non-ferrous parts where its higher tooling cost amortizes.

When should you use sand casting for a project?

Sand casting is the right call when you need larger or heavier castings, a versatile process across many alloys, or low tooling cost for medium-volume production runs. It also handles complex geometries with internal cavities through bonded sand cores, and design changes are easy to absorb before tooling is committed.

Can Redstone work from physical samples instead of drawings?

Redstone regularly produces parts from physical samples when no drawings exist. We 3D scan them, build complete drawings, and add specifications including surface finish requirements and tolerances for mating features. This is useful for replacement parts and legacy components.
