Automotive components made to IATF 16949

Production components for automotive Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers and specialty OEM programs, run to IATF 16949 in certified facilities with U.S. engineering oversight from quote through delivery.

Why Redstone

Quality leads every program

Die casting, machining, and finishing run through certified production with U.S. engineering oversight from quote through delivery. One point of contact, one documented quality system, one number on the quote.

Automotive quality, documented
Quality

Automotive quality, documented

Production runs to IATF 16949 with the records an automotive customer audit expects. Quality leads every program, from first article through full production.

  • IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified production facilities
  • PPAP documentation support across Levels 1, 2, and 3
  • APQP coordination on automotive programs
  • First-article inspection and dimensional reports on every batch
  • Certificate of Conformance with every shipment
Landed-cost clarity
Cost

Landed-cost clarity

Overseas production with U.S. oversight, quoted on landed cost so the number you compare is the number you pay. Duty exposure and USMCA qualification are worked out in the quote, not discovered at the border, so program budgets survive first shipment.

  • Tooling, freight, and duties quoted up front
  • Unit pricing by volume tier
  • USMCA qualification reviewed on Mexico-routed programs
  • Section 232 and 301 exposure assessed before you commit

PPAP Support

Documentation and Submission, Managed

PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) is the automotive industry standard for confirming a supplier can consistently produce a part to the customer's specification before mass production begins. Our certified production facilities manage the PPAP process, and our U.S. engineering team coordinates submission so you receive a complete, audit-ready package. We support Level 1 through Level 3 submissions and default to Level 3 on new program launches.

Level 1

Part Submission Warrant

The PSW (Part Submission Warrant) is submitted to the customer confirming the part meets all design record and specification requirements. Appropriate for lower-risk, non-critical components where the customer requires the warrant only.

Level 2

PSW + Samples + Limited Supporting Data

The PSW is accompanied by product samples and a selected subset of supporting documentation. Used when the customer wants confidence beyond the warrant but the full data set is not required.

Level 3

PSW + Samples + Full Supporting Data

The most common submission level for new automotive programs. Includes the PSW, product samples, and the complete documentation package covering all required elements. This is the submission level our facilities default to on new program launches.

PPAP submission package includes
  • Design records and engineering drawings
  • Process flow diagram
  • Process FMEA (PFMEA)
  • Control plan
  • Dimensional results and inspection reports
  • Material and performance test results
  • Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Process capability studies (Cpk / Ppk)
  • Sample parts
  • Part Submission Warrant (PSW)
Fit Check

Built for automotive production programs

Redstone is built for teams moving released drawings into repeat production with documented quality, clear landed-cost planning, and engineering support.

This is a good fit if

  • You run automotive components at production volume, not one-off prototypes.
  • Your program needs IATF 16949 quality and audit-ready documentation.
  • You are a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier, or a smaller OEM program that wants production-grade quality without a large-OEM minimum-order gate.
  • You are comparing suppliers on landed cost, including tooling, freight, and duties.
  • Your product is in off-road vehicles, electric snowmobiles, or a similar specialty vehicle segment.

Sourcing Strategy

Tariff exposure is a supply chain decision, not just a cost line.

Automotive carries duties that don't touch other manufacturing sectors. Under Section 232, the U.S. put a 25% tariff on imported automobiles (April 2025) and on a growing list of automobile parts (May 2025), with relief only for USMCA-qualifying content. On the EV side, Section 301 raised duties on Chinese-made electric vehicles to 100% and on lithium-ion EV batteries to 25% (both September 2024). A sourcing plan that works for industrial components can fall apart on an automotive program. Redstone's model lets you place production where total landed cost and tariff exposure are lowest, with consistent U.S. engineering oversight regardless of where parts are made.

How we quote around it
  • Section 232 (2025)

25% on imported automobiles and on covered auto parts, with exemptions for USMCA-qualifying content, Mexico production routed through USMCA can enter the U.S. duty-free on eligible parts.

  • Section 301 (2024)

duties on Chinese-made EVs raised to 100% and on lithium-ion EV batteries to 25%, a direct reason to move EV component sourcing out of China.

  • India facilities carry a different tariff profile than China-sourced parts and sit outside the Section 301 China measures.

  • Landed-cost quotes include current Section 232 and 301 duty rates so you can compare sourcing options on a fully loaded basis.

  • Our engineering team flags tariff-sensitive components at the feasibility review stage, before tooling is committed, and production can shift between regions at the program level without changing your U.S. engineering team or quality documentation.

Are your production facilities IATF 16949 certified?

Yes. The production facilities are IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified. These certifications belong to the facilities and cover all automotive production that runs through them. Redstone provides U.S. engineering oversight and manages quality documentation on your behalf.

What PPAP levels do you support?

We support PPAP Levels 1, 2, and 3. Level 3 is the default for new automotive program launches and includes the full documentation package: design records, process flow, PFMEA, control plan, dimensional results, material and performance test results, MSA, process-capability studies, sample parts, and the PSW. Let us know your customer's PPAP requirement at the quote stage.

What volumes do you run?

We are built for recurring production volume rather than one-off prototypes. We will confirm at the quote stage whether your annual volume is a fit and recommend the most cost-effective process.

Which processes do you use for automotive parts?

Aluminum and zinc die casting, plus machining and finishing. Our engineering team recommends the process that fits your part geometry, volume, and tolerance at the feasibility review.

How do you manage quality across the program?

First-article inspection, in-process checks, and dimensional reports on every batch, with a Certificate of Conformance on every shipment. Third-party inspection is available on request.

How does the tariff environment affect automotive sourcing through Redstone?

Automotive carries duties that don't apply to other sectors. Under Section 232, imported vehicles and a growing list of auto parts carry a 25% tariff (2025), with exemptions for USMCA-qualifying content. Under Section 301, Chinese-made EVs now carry 100% and lithium-ion EV batteries 25% (2024). We quote landed cost inclusive of these duties and recommend the production location that minimizes your total exposure: Mexico production qualifies for USMCA duty-free treatment on eligible parts, and India sits outside the Section 301 China measures. We flag tariff-sensitive components at the feasibility review before tooling is committed.
