Frequently asked questions

Don’t see your question? Request a quote and our engineering team will answer it.

What does Redstone manufacture?

Redstone produces custom metal and plastic parts across die casting, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, investment casting, sand casting, plastic injection molding, and metal injection molding. Parts range from small electronics housings to large enclosures and assembled hardware.

How does Redstone's U.S. and overseas model work?

Redstone is a U.S. manufacturer with an in-house CNC facility in Seattle and a managed production network overseas in Mexico, China, and India. Machining and rapid-turnaround work run in Seattle, while high-volume casting and fabrication run across the overseas network, all under U.S. engineering oversight with one accountable contact.

How does Redstone keep parts affordable?

By running in-house CNC in the U.S. and managing high-volume casting and fabrication across an overseas production network, Redstone places each part where it makes the most sense. Overseas work maintains the same quality standards with full U.S. oversight, which helps eliminate unnecessary expense.

Does Redstone manufacture prototypes?

Yes. Redstone accepts prototype orders as a gateway to larger production runs. Our capabilities support both short-run prototyping and high-volume manufacturing, so you can move to scale without switching providers.

Which industries does Redstone manufacture for?

Redstone manufactures for defense, automotive, and commercial and industrial buyers, among others. Each industry has specific material, tolerance, and documentation requirements that our team addresses during quoting.

What are your standard lead times?

Standard lead time is 4 to 8 weeks from approved drawings, with first-article and full production timing confirmed at the quote stage. Rush programs can be reviewed case by case.

How does Redstone vet its manufacturing facilities?

Redstone manufactures at facilities it has personally audited and scored on-site, with hard requirements including in-house CMM inspection capability and proven production scale. Facilities that require full prepayment or refuse ship-date penalties are disqualified. Redstone also sizes its programs to be a meaningful share of a facility's capacity, large enough to get attention without creating dependency.

How does Redstone protect customer designs?

Confidentiality is built in by default. The producing facility sees only that Redstone is producing the parts, not the end customer or the application. For sensitive projects, Redstone can split work across multiple facilities so no single one holds the full drawing set, preventing reproduction of the complete product.

How does Redstone choose where a part is manufactured?

Redstone selects the location based on material, geometry, and volume. Raw castings fit best in China or India, where aluminum and steel production is strong. Mexico handles high-volume programs close to the U.S. border, and machining and rapid-turnaround work run in-house in Seattle. Low-volume orders often go to China, where setup costs are lowest.

What happens if parts fail quality inspection?

Redstone catches issues before parts ship. When something fails, the response follows a structured method: the lot is sorted 100 percent, work stops, and nonconforming inventory is quarantined. Root cause analysis precedes any countermeasure, followed by permanent corrective action. Redstone guarantees every part and will repair, replace, or refund.
