JIS aluminum alloys have counterparts in other global standards. For example, ADC12, an alloy under the JIS standard, is comparable to A383 under ASTM B85-96 in terms of silicon and copper content. Both are recognized for their excellent castability and automotive applications. The standard also relates to DIN, EN, and ISO specifications, broadening material selection options.

Characteristics

JIS H 5302:2006 details the chemical and mechanical properties essential for application selection. Aluminum alloys offer corrosion resistance and heat resistance advantages. Specific alloys demonstrate varying performance metrics, for instance AC4CH exhibits a tensile strength of at least 250 N/mm, an elongation of at least 5%, and a Brinell hardness of approximately 65 HBS 10/500.

Uses

JIS aluminum alloys serve multiple industries. ADC12 and ADC12Z grades support automotive production through an optimal strength-castability balance for lightweight, yet robust components. ADC14's high-strength characteristics suit aerospace applications. Trade-offs exist between castability and strength, requiring careful alloy selection aligned with specific casting processes.
